Hollywood beauties sell off designer wear for charity

She's as well-known for her enviable wardrobe as her humanitarianism and now Emma Watson has combined the two.

The star is selling off her designer items to raise money for Women for Women International, a charity helping women in war-torn countries rebuild their lives.

The Harry Potter actress, who is a U.N. Women Goodwill Ambassador, has teamed up with her A-list pals to sell the garments on Vestiaire Collective.

Dubbed Wardrobes for Women, the sale throws open the closets of top female celebrities for 12 days only and will see Keira Knightley, Lena Dunham, Diane Kruger, Chloe Sevigny, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Dree Hemmingway and Lupita Nyong’o get involved.

The stars have donated an eclectic mix of pieces, from Keira's favourite Prada dress to Lena Dunham's colourful print gowns, being sold for at least 30 per cent less than their original price.

Founded in 1993, Women for Women International has helped almost 430,000 women survivors of war in some of the world’s most dangerous places.

Their year-long programme trains a woman in a specialised job skill, together with basic business training, to help her earn a stable income and provide for her family.

She also learns practical knowledge of her health and her rights, so she can make informed choices, such as avoiding preventable diseases, voting or sending her daughters to school.

As a result of the programme, women are able to transform their families and communities.
